Spring Cleaning

SpringSpring is finally here! The days are getting longer, plant life is starting to bloom, and all signs point to summer being on its way! Spring is always full of positive energy, everyone is getting ready to switch seasons and embrace the outdoors. Embracing spring with a good spring-cleaning is a great way to stay motivated and organized during the season change.  Thinking about spring-cleaning is one of the lesser exciting activities of spring and can sometimes be overwhelming. However, the rewards afterwards are endless. Here are some tips to help with spring cleaning and organizing for the new season!

  1. Make a List

With any planed activity you always start with a list, spring-cleaning is no different. Making a list will allow you to stay focused and stick to a routine. Ticking off each task as its completed, is a great way to keep track of your progress and will give you a sense of accomplishment you can track.

  1. Cleaning Bucket

During my college years I worked cleaning offices in the evenings. Every employee got a bucket filled with window cleaner, rags, sanitizer, garbage bags, etc. Carrying a bucket with everything at your fingertips saves time and makes sure you are not running from room to room. Since then I have adapted this to my own home cleaning routine and it has saved me time and energy, definitely one of my favorite tips

  1. Purge Always & Donate Regularly

Keep a house clean and tidy is a full time job, adding clutter makes it nearly impossible. One of the most important things you can implement into your spring-cleaning is purging and donating. Clothes that are never worn, broken toys, unused furniture and access knick-knacks are all thing that can build up without us noticing. Donations are made easy by non-profits like The Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy and Canadian Diabetes Association, these organizations will actually pick up you donations so you don’t have to leave the house!

  1. Make Small Upgrades & Repairs

Over time, no matter how careful and attentive a homeowner is, wear and tear happens. Giving your home a little upgrade will make all the difference in how you feel about your living space. Painting, replacing curtains, or adding new accents are all ways that will help give your home an uplifting spring spruce up!

  1. Open Windows & Bring Spring Indoors

Opening your home up for some fresh air is a great way to boost your energy while getting rid of any musty smells or cleaning fumes. Adding some potted plants to your home décor can really add the spring feel that will give you the added touch you are looking for!
