My husband and I met at Mohawk, we have enjoyed eight blissful years of courtship, we survived the long distance struggle shortly after graduating while we both moved away to begin our careers, we bought and renovated a home together, we started a business together, and planned a wedding for 250 guests with relative ease. So after saying our “I Do’s” and settling back in to regular every-day life we thought things would continue on in a similar fashion and we were right…for the most part.
When we first got engaged, we received a plethora of unsolicited marriage advice from kind heart-ed well-meaning people who drove me to drink and I promise I won’t subject you to the same nauseating list of fortune cookie sayings. After graduating in 2010 I had the privilege of serving as the president of the Mohawk Students Association for one term. During my single year of service, I witnessed more revitalization, renovation and rejuvenation than the college had seen since the day it was built. I was thrilled to be a part of the Fennell Campus Renewal by organizing student input and feedback sessions, sitting on campus renewal committees and participating in a few ribbon cuttings and grand openings before my time was up. As a dog lover for my entire life, I never thought I would be the proud pet parent of the world’s most adorable and confused cat. Bandit, aka Mr Bubs aka Senior Bandito, is a black, medium haired little ragamuffin we adopted almost a year ago now from our local SPCA, who behaves like a dog and I’m pretty sure it’s my fault. I am currently working as an on air personality and promotions director for KX 94.7fm, the #1 country radio station in all of Canada and the #1 radio station of any genre in Hamilton. Wow that feels good to say! This has certainly been a dream job in the making and has taken quite a few years of work to get here. I have bounced around the wonderful world of career-land trying to sort out exactly where I wanted to end up. I worked in television for many years (first in reality tv, then news, then lifestyle) all while keeping my part-time job in radio. Continue Reading

If the overall goal is to run a marathon, getting off the couch and running 15k on your first time out will probably cause more harm than good and set you even further back from your goal. Running 5k every day on the other hand, is a tried and true way to build up stamina, encourage muscle memory and increase lung capacity. The effort we make each day makes reaching the finish line a whole lot easier. Continue Reading
