My husband and I met at Mohawk, we have enjoyed eight blissful years of courtship, we survived the long distance struggle shortly after graduating while we both moved away to begin our careers, we bought and renovated a home together, we started a business together, and planned a wedding for 250 guests with relative ease. So after saying our “I Do’s” and settling back in to regular every-day life we thought things would continue on in a similar fashion and we were right…for the most part.

‘I was thrilled to be a part of the Fennell Campus Renewal’

After graduating in 2010 I had the privilege of serving as the president of the Mohawk Students Association for one term. During my single year of service, I witnessed more revitalization, renovation and rejuvenation than the college had seen since the day it was built. Since last I blogged, a serious advancement has been made on the career front for one Kat Cullen. I am currently working as an on air personality and promotions director for KX 94.7fm, the #1 country radio station in all of Canada and the #1 radio station of any genre in Hamilton. Wow that feels good to say! This has certainly been a dream job in the making and has taken quite a few years of work to get here. I have bounced around the wonderful world of career-land trying to sort out exactly where I wanted to end up. Taking care of business…everyday!

woman with heelsAchieving a difficult task isn’t always about exerting large amounts of effort all at once, it is about making little changes every day to make sure that we are constantly taking small steps toward what we want to achieve and keeping your goals top of mind with every decision you make throughout the day.

If the overall goal is to run a marathon, getting off the couch and running 15k on your first time out will probably cause more harm than good and set you even further back from your goal. Running 5k every day on the other hand, is a tried and true way to build up stamina, encourage muscle memory and increase lung capacity.
